Web Developer & Designer / SEO Specialist – American International University | Kuwait Full Time Permanent

Job Overview

American International University (AIU) is seeking an experienced Web Developer & Designer / SEO Specialist to manage, develop, and optimize its official website and associated digital platforms.

The position combines website development, UI/UX design, search engine optimization, digital analytics, and technical maintenance. The successful candidate will also lead the transition of AIU’s existing vendor-managed website into an internally controlled environment, ensuring security, performance, accessibility, and long-term scalability.

AIU welcomes expertise across modern development technologies, including WordPress, custom-built solutions, and other suitable platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance AIU’s website and related digital platforms.
• Manage content management systems (CMS), APIs, integrations, website security, performance, and technical troubleshooting.
• Ensure responsive, accessible, secure, and cross-browser website functionality.
• Create professional website layouts, wireframes, prototypes, and user-friendly interfaces aligned with institutional branding.
• Maintain consistent navigation, typography, visual design, and user experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
• Implement technical and on-page SEO strategies to improve organic search visibility.
• Optimize website content, metadata, URLs, internal links, images, and structured data.
• Monitor indexing, crawlability, redirects, broken links, and Core Web Vitals.
• Manage Google Analytics 4 (GA4), Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager, and other SEO platforms.
• Analyze website traffic and search performance, preparing reports and recommendations for improvement.
• Lead the migration or redevelopment of AIU’s existing vendor-managed website into an institution-controlled environment.
• Audit existing content, integrations, functionality, analytics, and SEO before migration.
• Preserve important URLs, search rankings, analytics continuity, and website functionality during the transition.
• Establish AIU ownership of website code, CMS, administrative access, analytics, and technical documentation.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholders to deliver website improvements and digital requirements.

Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Web Development, Digital Media, Design, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in website development, web design, SEO, or production website management.
• A strong professional portfolio demonstrating web development, UI/UX design, and successfully delivered websites is mandatory.
• Proven experience managing public-facing websites, SEO activities, and digital analytics.
• Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive design, databases, APIs, and modern web technologies.
• Experience with CMS platforms, custom website development, and end-to-end website administration.
• Ability to evaluate and recommend suitable technology stacks based on security, maintainability, performance, and scalability.
• Strong understanding of technical SEO, on-page optimization, keyword research, and organic search performance.
• Practical experience using Google Analytics, Google Search Console, and Google Tag Manager.
• Excellent visual design, troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
• Ability to manage website projects independently while coordinating effectively with university departments Jobs in Kuwait.

• Previous involvement in migrating large public-facing websites from external vendors to internally managed environments.

• Experience with SEO tools such as Semrush, Ahrefs, or Moz.
• Relevant professional certifications in web development, UI/UX, SEO, analytics, CMS, or cloud technologies gulf jobs.
