Position Summary

Deloitte is seeking an experienced Senior – Audit & Assurance professional to join its team in Muscat, Oman. This opportunity is suitable for candidates with a strong background in external auditing, financial accounting, risk assessment, and audit engagement management.

The successful candidate will contribute to delivering high-quality audit services, reviewing financial information, supervising engagement activities, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal audit methodologies.

Audit & Assurance | Senior

Key Responsibilities

• Establish professional relationships with clients and key stakeholders by understanding their business priorities, expectations, and audit service requirements.
• Deliver high-quality audit assignments while considering regulatory obligations, business risks, internal controls, and their impact on financial reporting.
• Conduct preliminary research into client operations, financial performance, industry developments, and relevant business information before commencing audit engagements.
• Prepare and customize group audit referral instructions, clearly defining the required procedures, audit focus areas, and responsibilities of component auditors.
• Coordinate with onshore and offshore Centers of Excellence to ensure delegated audit activities are completed accurately and supported by sufficient documentation.
• Monitor deliverables from component auditors and assist in reviewing their relevance to the overall group audit engagement.
• Maintain accurate audit documentation within the Engagement Management System (EMS), ensuring appropriate connections between identified risks, internal controls, audit procedures, and findings gulf jobs.
• Support the achievement of audit quality milestones by monitoring engagement progress, documentation completeness, and compliance with established review requirements.
• Assist in developing audit plans and evaluating opportunities to complete selected procedures earlier in the engagement cycle.
• Prepare clear working papers that support audit findings, accounting assessments, professional judgements, and final conclusions.
• Develop effective working relationships with personnel beyond the client’s finance department to gain a broader understanding of business operations and potential audit risks.
• Apply professional scepticism when reviewing financial information, assessing management explanations, and evaluating audit evidence.
• Maintain awareness of engagement lifecycle risks, applicable regulatory requirements, and relevant professional practice protection policies.
• Supervise junior audit staff, review assigned work, and contribute to the timely delivery of audit reports and engagement requirements.
• Assist in resolving complex accounting research matters while ensuring audit activities remain aligned with agreed work plans and deadlines.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline. A postgraduate qualification is desirable.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in public auditing and accounting, preferably gained within a leading international audit firm.
• An internationally recognized accounting qualification, such as CA, ACCA, or CPA, is desirable, with preference given to Chartered Accountants (CA).
• Proven ability to supervise audit personnel, examine client financial records, analyze financial information, and prepare comprehensive audit reports.
• Experience conducting accounting research, resolving technical issues, and supporting audit engagement planning and execution.
• Strong understanding of audit procedures, financial reporting, internal controls, risk assessment, and relevant regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to manage engagement activities, coordinate team responsibilities, and ensure deliverables meet agreed quality standards and deadlines.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and professional judgement skills.
• Ability to maintain productive relationships with clients, colleagues, and other engagement stakeholders.
• Fluency in English, including reading, writing, and speaking, is required.
• Bilingual candidates proficient in both Arabic and English will be given preference.
