Geotechnical Engineer – Marine & Coastal Projects | Oman Full Time Hybrid Permanent

Job Overview

WSP is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to support marine and coastal infrastructure developments in Oman. The role focuses on providing specialist geotechnical expertise for complex projects involving land reclamation, breakwaters, quay walls, ports, harbours, jetties, and related maritime structures.

The successful candidate will manage ground investigations, engineering assessments, technical design, and construction support while working closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities & Requirements

• Plan, coordinate, and supervise marine and coastal ground investigations, including borehole drilling, Cone Penetration Testing (CPT), soil sampling, and in-situ testing.
• Conduct geotechnical assessments and engineering designs for reclamation projects, breakwaters, quay walls, ports, harbours, jetties, and associated structures.
• Prepare comprehensive geotechnical investigation reports, design calculations, technical specifications, and engineering documentation.
• Review technical designs and project submissions prepared by consultants and internal engineering teams, providing recommendations where necessary.
• Provide engineering assistance during construction, including site monitoring, technical troubleshooting, and design adjustments.
• Coordinate with structural, hydraulic, environmental, and other engineering specialists to ensure effective integration of geotechnical solutions.
• Ensure engineering work complies with applicable Omani regulations, recognized international design standards, and WSP quality requirements.
• Organize and maintain geotechnical investigation data, technical databases, project records, and engineering documentation .
• Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and contribute to internal knowledge-sharing and professional development.
• Support business development activities through technical proposals, project submissions, and client presentations.
• Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Bring at least 10 years of relevant professional experience in marine or coastal geotechnical engineering.
• Demonstrate a strong project background in land reclamation, breakwater construction, port development, and harbour infrastructure.
• Have practical experience with geotechnical analysis and design software such as PLAXIS, GeoStudio, or FLAC.
• Understand Omani geotechnical regulations and relevant international engineering codes and standards.
• Possess strong technical writing, engineering communication, and presentation skills.
• Work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams and coordinate with different technical stakeholders.
• Demonstrate professional fluency in English; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
• Be willing to travel to project locations across Oman when required.
• Professional Engineer registration, such as PE or relevant UAE/Oman engineering registration, is preferred.
