Data Quality Lead – Data Management & Data Governance Full Time

Job Overview

VAM Systems is seeking an experienced Data Quality Lead to support data management and governance initiatives within the banking and financial services environment in Doha, Qatar.

The position will focus on establishing and maintaining strong data quality standards, governance frameworks, data controls, monitoring processes, and regulatory data practices. The successful candidate will work across business and technology functions to improve the reliability, consistency, accuracy, and usability of critical organizational data.

This role requires strong knowledge of data governance principles and practical experience working with regulated data environments. The Data Quality Lead will collaborate with Data Owners, Data Stewards, IT, Risk, Finance, Compliance, Operations, and business teams to address data issues and strengthen accountability throughout the data lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

Data Quality & Governance

• Establish, enhance, and maintain data quality frameworks, standards, controls, KPIs, and reporting mechanisms.
• Define practical data quality requirements for critical data elements and ensure they are consistently monitored.
• Develop and maintain appropriate quality rules covering data accuracy, completeness, consistency, validity, integrity, and timeliness.
• Ensure data quality activities remain aligned with organizational governance policies, standards, and applicable regulatory expectations.
• Support the development of clear data ownership and accountability practices across business and technology functions.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of enterprise data governance and management processes.

Data Monitoring & Issue Resolution

• Monitor data quality performance through dashboards, scorecards, reports, and defined quality indicators.
• Identify data quality gaps and coordinate investigations into recurring or high-impact issues.
• Lead structured root-cause analysis, remediation planning, corrective actions, and issue closure.
• Maintain visibility of outstanding data quality issues and ensure appropriate follow-up with responsible stakeholders.
• Escalate significant data risks through established governance and management channels.
• Track remediation progress and provide management with meaningful updates on data quality performance and unresolved risks.

Banking & Regulatory Data

• Support data quality controls covering financial, risk, compliance, regulatory, and management reporting.
• Work with relevant business and control functions to ensure data used for regulatory purposes meets defined quality standards.
• Assist with data reviews, audits, regulatory reporting activities, and related information requests.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to identify and resolve data issues affecting regulatory or management reporting.
• Ensure data management practices are aligned with applicable Qatar Central Bank (QCB) expectations and organizational requirements.

Data, Analytics & AI

• Contribute to data quality standards supporting analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning initiatives.
• Help identify potential data quality risks affecting AI and analytical models.
• Work with AI Governance and data teams to promote appropriate quality controls throughout the data lifecycle.
• Support efforts to improve the reliability and suitability of data used for analytical and technology-driven business initiatives.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Work closely with Data Owners, Data Stewards, IT, Risk, Finance, Compliance, Operations, and business teams.
• Encourage stronger data ownership and accountability across departments.
• Communicate data quality findings, risks, and remediation requirements clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Support data quality awareness initiatives and promote consistent governance practices across the organization.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• 8–12 years of professional experience in Data Quality, Data Governance, Data Management, Risk Data Management, Regulatory Reporting, or closely related areas.
• Previous experience within banking, financial services, or another highly regulated industry is required.
• Strong understanding of enterprise Data Quality and Data Governance concepts and their practical application.
• Experience with Data Lineage, Metadata Management, Reference Data, and Master Data Management.
• Practical knowledge of data quality rules, controls, monitoring, reporting, issue management, and remediation processes.
• Familiarity with data governance and data management platforms such as Informatica, Collibra, Microsoft Purview, ABACUS, or equivalent technologies.
• Ability to analyze complex data-quality problems and translate findings into practical corrective actions.
• Strong understanding of data ownership, stewardship, governance responsibilities, and data lifecycle management.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in environments involving business, technology, risk, finance, and compliance stakeholders.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical data matters clearly to different audiences.
• Excellent stakeholder-management and coordination abilities.
• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills with close attention to data accuracy and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to manage multiple data-quality initiatives and prioritize issues according to business and regulatory impact.
