Citi is seeking an experienced Applications Development Intermediate Analyst to support the development, enhancement, and maintenance of business application systems within its Technology division in Seef, Bahrain.

The successful candidate will contribute to application programming, systems analysis, technical troubleshooting, and the implementation of new or updated software solutions. Working alongside technology specialists, internal users, and business stakeholders, the role focuses on improving application functionality, resolving technical challenges, and maintaining secure and reliable systems.

This position requires practical applications development experience, an understanding of financial services technology environments, and the ability to manage technical responsibilities with a reasonable level of independence gulf jobs.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate in the development, implementation, and enhancement of application systems in collaboration with the Technology team.
• Assess existing applications and identify opportunities to improve system functionality, performance, and operational effectiveness.
• Review and interpret application code, use scripting tools, and recommend appropriate technical modifications.
• Translate business and technical requirements into suitable programming specifications and development solutions.
• Work with users, clients, and other technology teams to investigate application-related concerns and recommend effective resolutions.
• Support the installation, maintenance, and ongoing operation of customer-facing application systems.
• Examine applications for potential vulnerabilities, security weaknesses, and technical defects.
• Perform application testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to improve software reliability.
• Investigate technical issues, evaluate available information, and implement solutions using established development practices.
• Provide technical guidance and coaching to junior analysts and less-experienced team members.
• Contribute specialist knowledge during discussions with senior stakeholders and cross-functional technology teams.
• Manage assigned development activities with limited direct supervision while maintaining accountability for technical decisions.
• Identify and communicate operational or technology-related risks, ensuring appropriate escalation and transparent reporting.
• Follow Citi’s internal policies, applicable regulations, professional conduct standards, and established risk management procedures.

Required Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree, university qualification, or equivalent relevant professional experience.
• Proven professional experience within the financial services industry, preferably involving banking or related technology environments.
• Intermediate-level experience in applications development, programming, systems analysis, or a closely related technical role.
• Working knowledge of software development procedures, programming concepts, application enhancements, and technical implementation processes.
• Ability to interpret existing code, work with scripting tools, and apply programming knowledge to development specifications.
• Practical understanding of application testing, debugging, technical troubleshooting, and vulnerability identification.
• Strong analytical capabilities, with the ability to investigate problems, assess available information, and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information clearly.
• Ability to collaborate with business users, clients, developers, and other technology professionals.
• Confidence in making technical judgments and handling assigned responsibilities with limited supervision.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, work effectively under pressure, and meet established deadlines.
• Flexibility to respond professionally to unexpected changes in business requirements or project expectations.
