Job Overview

A company in Doha is looking for an experienced Rigger to support lifting and rigging operations on oil and gas project sites. The position requires practical knowledge of safe load handling, lifting procedures, site coordination, and rigging activities.

Candidates should have relevant experience in Qatar and meet the required certification and project-approval criteria. Experience working on Qatar Energy-approved oil & gas projects is specifically required for this opportunity.

The successful candidate should understand site safety requirements, follow approved lifting procedures, and work effectively with supervisors, operators, and other site personnel to ensure lifting activities are carried out safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform daily rigging and lifting activities in accordance with approved procedures and project requirements.
• Prepare, connect, secure, guide, and position loads safely during lifting and movement operations.
• Inspect rigging equipment and lifting accessories before use and report damaged, unsuitable, or unsafe equipment to the responsible supervisor.
• Select and use appropriate slings, shackles, hooks, lifting belts, and other approved rigging accessories according to the load and lifting requirements.
• Assist crane operators and lifting teams during hoisting, lowering, positioning, and movement of materials or equipment.
• Ensure loads are properly secured and balanced before lifting operations begin.
• Follow established Qatar Energy project safety standards, site procedures, permit requirements, and lifting instructions.
• Maintain safe working distances and remain alert to potential hazards during lifting operations.
• Communicate clearly with crane operators, supervisors, banksmen, and other members of the lifting team using approved signals and communication methods.
• Assist with positioning loads accurately at designated locations while minimizing risks to personnel, equipment, and surrounding structures.
• Support lifting activities involving materials, machinery, equipment, and other project-related loads as assigned.
• Keep rigging tools and accessories properly arranged and ensure equipment is returned to designated storage areas after use.
• Participate in site inspections and comply with toolbox talks, safety briefings, and other project safety activities.
• Stop or report unsafe lifting conditions when required and follow instructions from authorized site personnel.
• Maintain a professional and safety-conscious approach throughout all assigned lifting operations.

Requirements & Qualifications

• 5–8 years of relevant rigging experience in industrial, construction, oil and gas, or related project environments.
• At least 3 years of work experience in Qatar is required.
• Candidates must hold a valid TÜV-approved Rigger Certification.
• Applicants must be a Qatar Energy-approved Rigger.
• Previous experience working on Qatar Energy-approved oil & gas projects in Qatar is required.
• Strong practical understanding of lifting, rigging, load handling, and material positioning procedures.
• Knowledge of commonly used rigging equipment, lifting accessories, and basic load-handling practices.
• Ability to identify visible defects or unsafe conditions involving slings, shackles, hooks, lifting belts, and related equipment.
• Understanding of site safety requirements and the importance of following approved lifting plans and procedures.
• Ability to work effectively with crane operators, lifting supervisors, banksmen, and other project personnel.
• Good communication skills are required to coordinate lifting activities and follow instructions accurately.
• Strong awareness of workplace hazards and the ability to maintain safe practices throughout lifting operations.
• Physically capable of performing practical rigging duties in an active oil and gas project environment.
• Ability to work outdoors and adapt to changing site conditions when required.
• Willingness to follow project-specific safety rules, access requirements, permit systems, and operational procedures.
• Reliable, disciplined, and attentive when handling lifting equipment and supporting critical site activities.
• Ability to work as part of a coordinated site team while also taking responsibility for assigned rigging tasks.
• Candidates should maintain valid certification and comply with any additional project requirements applicable to Qatar Energy-approved worksites.
