Job Overview

Baptist Health Rehab is seeking a Patient Care Technician I (PCT) to provide essential support to patients and contribute to daily care activities within the rehabilitation department. This position involves assisting patients with basic personal needs, supporting hygiene routines, observing patient conditions, and working alongside healthcare professionals to help maintain a safe and supportive care environment.

The role is suitable for individuals who demonstrate compassion, reliability, effective communication, and a genuine interest in supporting patients during their rehabilitation journey. Previous healthcare experience is preferred but is not mandatory, as training and education are provided to help successful candidates develop the necessary skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide patients with appropriate assistance with basic personal care, hygiene, comfort, and daily activities according to established care procedures.
• Support patients with routine needs while maintaining dignity, privacy, respect, and a compassionate approach.
• Observe patients during daily activities and promptly communicate relevant concerns or changes to appropriate healthcare professionals.
• Assist the healthcare team with routine patient-care tasks and contribute to the smooth operation of the rehabilitation unit.
• Communicate professionally and respectfully with patients, families, nurses, therapists, and other members of the healthcare team.
• Respond to patient requests and needs in a timely and considerate manner while following applicable care procedures.
• Help maintain a clean, safe, organized, and supportive environment for patients and staff.
• Follow instructions provided by qualified healthcare professionals and comply with established patient-care practices.
• Develop and apply newly acquired clinical and healthcare-support skills through employer-provided education and practical training.
• Participate in required learning activities, including training related to CPR, clinical skills, communication, and hospitality in healthcare.
• Maintain a dependable approach to assigned duties and support the team during scheduled night-shift hours.
• Use appropriate judgment when handling routine patient needs and seek assistance from the healthcare team whenever a situation requires professional intervention.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Completion of at least 12 college-level credit hours is required.
• The required coursework must include English Composition with a grade of C or higher.
• Candidates must have a minimum overall GPA of 2.0.
• Academic transcripts may be reviewed or verified as part of the application and selection process.
• Previous experience in a healthcare environment, patient support role, or service industry is preferred but not required.
• Candidates should demonstrate clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills are important because the position involves regular interaction with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
• Good organizational ability is required to manage assigned patient-care responsibilities and follow established procedures.
• Candidates should demonstrate basic problem-solving skills and the ability to respond appropriately to routine patient needs.

• Candidates should be dependable and comfortable working the assigned night shift from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM.
